Listed on the left-hand side is a hierarchy of attributes for you to apply in terms of their importance in your career goal. This applies only unless you work solely and strictly for the money. I call these “non-cash incentives.” These will define for you most closely what you are like and what your needs are. You will also want to consider which ones, as defined below, are of the greatest importance to you relative to the others when pursuing your desired career.
The following are the definitions of the non-cash incentives. Give each category a rating from 1 to 10 based on the importance to you while also considering your related interests and talents. The following are garnered from candidates that I have interviewed. The purpose of these is to gather solid ideas, which will enable you to identify what you really want. Some of these attributes will grab you faster and stronger than others. In order to get what you want out of life, you must understand yourself, your motives and your personality, as clearly as possible. You may, for example, emphasize or value the importance of “Intrinsic Job Interest” over cash. This is the purpose of this exercise. Yes, you need to eat and have a roof over your head, but if you can’t be creative if you may wither.
